Thursday, April 22, 2004 It's been one of those days again.
I hate getting mad with people, let alone friends. It's exhausting, demoralising and totally wrecks my entire day. Losing my temper with someone who's just irritating is one thing, but when its over something beyond my control, you bet I'll not keep quiet and just take it. I have to admit that I have a very short fuse these days. I don't tolerate idiots easily. Its not something I'm proud of, and after what a very good friend pointed out to me, I'm working very hard to control that.
All in all, it was a terrible day. I hate losing my temper. PET PEEVE: People who don't realise that while we all do our own jobs at whatever level, there are many instances when some understanding and cooperation will make things go a lot smoother and faster! Sunday, April 18, 2004 Done!
Yeah! *doing a happy dance* I finished the copy! After a quarter of a pineapple, 4 chocolate chip cookies, half a bowl of COLD cereal and half a box of Kleenex. Took a Cirrus and my sneezing fits have stopped only now, I'm sleepy and desperately yearning for my bed.
*If anyone knows how to keep cool in this blistering weather without resorting to air conditioning (which only aggravates my sinuses), please share. Where oh where is the rain? Saturday, April 17, 2004 in a major procrastinating mood... If I were a South Park character, this is what I'd look like. Found the site here. I've got to write for an IT brochure by Monday but am suffering (that's right ...suffering!) from major allergies today and my sinuses are in hyperdrive! Can't think straight let alone construct a signficant sentence to form a coherent thought (or is it the other way around?). Tissues are littered around my desk and had just sneezed 8 times in a row (think that's my new record)! Friday, April 16, 2004 A park is dying...![]() The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina, USA is beginning to die! Saw that headline in Yahoo! and my heart stopped. How can a park die? According to the report, it's the result of acid rain, high ozone levels and a proposed road through the it that will threaten its ecology. The pollution is all thanks to factories, power plants and heavy traffic in the area. This lovely 'smoky' picture you see, isn't anything romantic like mist. It's haze! Animals die off and go extinct but a park? How do you even begin to save it; the scope is enormous. And you feel so insignificant when you realise that you're near powerless to save something so immensely old and heartwrenchingly beautiful. Visiting this area in the Fall to see the fall leaves change to red, yellow, orange and gold is an awe-inspiring sight I recommend to anyone at least once in life. How can this 'die'? Monday, April 12, 2004 What's our worth?
Pet Peeve: After proving ourselves in overseas gigs that have had rave reviews, why oh why are we still too scared to charge what we really are worth for a performance? Reason: it's the organisers. So...organisers, if you can only pay peanuts, then please go find monkeys. We're not it!
Saturday, April 10, 2004 Fat Frog, Flush & Friends![]() Flush made their return to the Fat Frog last night after nearly a year away. It was nice to sit under the trees albeit was rather stuffy and humid and listen to Bex, Jim, Colin and Restam jam. I love their acoustic version of the Evanescence hit, My Immortal - it was the first time they played it too. A group of us were there, some I haven't seen since December 2003! All in all, a nice evening with friends. Oh...and remind me to never consume more than ONE glass of vodka with anything. I woke up this morning with a splitting headache. OUCH! Friday, April 09, 2004 A major catch up...
Yikes! It's been ages since I last put finger to keyboard to thump out my blog. It has been a rather fulfilling last few weeks, work wise. I'm still working on that project with Vacain and finally finished a project with a client that has been dragging since last year December.
What's happened to date...Xin and Jim have moved, a cousin got married, Fireflys appeared in print in Today featuring Ian and the Petronas Towers of KL, Fireflys also appeared in Channel i News, Bex and Purple Circle moved to a new office in Boat Quay and near Molly's too, bought more books at the MPH warehouse sale, and my parents got a free night at the Ritz Carlton. This is the last pix of Jim and Xin's old place at Portsdown where many a great party was held. I finally got to try out the bathroom at the Ritz Carlton, famous for their huge hexagon windows and the magnificent views. It was sheer decadence to sit in that tub filled with lavender scented bubbles, after spending the afternoon moving Xin's stuff to her new place and getting totally grubby, and enjoy a vodka cranberry while nibbling on the complementary chocolates that Mom saved for me. Bliss, bliss, bliss! I'd have soaked longer than my 15 minutes but hungry stomachs prevailed. Must thank my uncle for making a gift of this wonderful room to my parents last year at their 40th wedding anniversary. This is a long Easter weekend and I plan on doing absolutely nothing save for catching up on the remaining Sex and The City DVDs before Lynn kills me. |
